KHITTAYA CLOTHING
Fashion in Myanmar
In Myanmar, earning money by doing crafts is not a sustainable business. People begin leaving this industry due to labor-intensive and shortage. “Khittaya” is currently working with weavers from different ethnic groups in Myanmar. The aim is to empower the women weavers to earn a regular income, prevserve the traditional crafts in innovative ways and promote Myanmar textile. The studio is located in Yangon and sells our products at the monthly market, online sales, and plan to open our own boutique and to sell our products at luxury Hotels and tourism hubs. In the future, we have a plan to donate 5% of our profit to the charity fund, which is mainly focused on retired artisans and for their healthcare.

MINI PROJECT
Fabric Cotton Masks by Women Group In Yangon
The Covid19 Pandemic is a global tragedy. Many people died and get unemployed resulting unsecured future of wellbeing ahead. Even though the virus does not distinguish gender, race or religion, it affects women, girls and boys differently.
There are more several paint points against girls and women especially by Covide19. We realize that we need some initiative to empower women and girls to tackle down their sufferings as much as possible. On the other hand, the State Counsellor and also CDC is driving the community to use cloth masks to reduce risk of coronavirus infection. We realize that many girls and women in Myanmar are very talented in sewing and making clothes.
Khittaya Clothing is always looking for an opportunity to support local weavers and women's groups in Myanmar. During this crisis, the Ministry of health and sports recommended wearing fabric face masks to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
That is why we decide to launch a cloth mask-making project which uses a 100% women workforce throughout the production line so that women get their income (most importantly at their home). We strongly believe that a decent income will lead to the well-being and dignity of women.

WEAVING PROJECT
Traditional Pearl-Acheik
In December 2020, Khiitaya launched a collaboration of producing its own textile together with a weaving group in Myitkyina, northeastern Myanmar. The name of Pearl-Acheik becomes the texture of its textile, which has thinner layer and a combination of cotton and silk. We aimed to launch this project to support women weavers from Kachin State.
